Emily grew up investigating the creeks and woods of Fredericksburg, Virginia. It was there that she discovered her passion for learning in the outdoors. Throughout her elementary and high school years Emily was able to discover her passion for teaching many classroom and outdoor activities including rock climbing and rappelling, science, art, and even sewing.
Emily graduated from Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska with a B.S. in International Rescue and Relief and went on to complete a Master’s of Science in Outdoor Education from Southern Adventist University. It was during her time at Southern that she discovered her excitement for classroom teaching in the inner city schools in Chattanooga. Emily loves using the outdoors to teach children in all areas of learning and is excited to discover all the wonderful outdoor resources that we have available to learn from at Riverside Christian School!
