Project-Based Learning

At Riverside Christian School we put an emphasis on project-based learning. This is a student-centered style of teaching that helps students acquire a deeper knowledge of a subject through active exploration of real-world challenges and problems. Students learn about a subject by working for an extended period of time to investigate and respond to a question, challenge or problem. Kids get “hand-on” with this type of learning which brings the subject matter to life!

Students here worked in multi-grade groups to complete projects to prepare them for a mission to Mars. “NASA Scientists” came and listened to presentations from each group on their challenge they were assigned to solve. Brainstorming, conflict resolution, hypothesis testing, solutions and more were accomplished in this fun, “out-of-the-box” project!

Students in this photo were using some of our 12 acre campus by participating in an “archaeological dig” as part of their ongoing project for their Social Studies curriculum.
